Authorities have charged 28-year old Tallahassee resident Michael Damian Fraser with aggravated assault after a first date he attended went horribly wrong. According to reports by local media, Mr Fraser had met up with the victim, a 24-year old female law student, who was not named, to share a meal after the pair matched on a popular dating app.
According to Mr Fraser’s testimony to investigators, he suggested having lunch at a local Tallahassee restaurant popular with college students, and his date agreed. “I only meet up with guys from the internet in public places for a first date, so I thought it’d be OK,” said the victim, in her statement. The lunch went fine, and the female victim reported that Mr Fraser appeared quite ‘charming’ and ‘easy to get along with’. “Apart from the fact that he insisted we split the check, it was a perfect first date.”
However, what happened next would cause her to completely reassess her positive first impression of Mr Fraser. “He offered to drive me back to my apartment, and since he seemed perfectly harmless I accepted.” Upon arriving at the victim’s address, Mr Fraser asked her if he could ‘quickly use her bathroom’. “Again, I didn’t pick up anything from his demeanour that caused me to be concerned, so I agreed,” said the victim.
According to the woman’s statement, once Mr Fraser entered her apartment his behavior changed almost instantly. “He went from being a nice, normal guy to acting like a complete weirdo,” said the victim. According to her account, Mr Fraser pushed her to the ground and pinned her down, before saying: “I’m still hungry, it’s time for my dessert.”
Despite the woman’s desperate struggles, she was no match for Mr Fraser’s strength, and she was unable to prevent him from pulling down her top. “I kept trying to kick him, or to escape his grasp, but he was holding me down too tightly,” she said. Moments later, she recalls being completely shocked after feeling a sharp pain from her chest.
“I looked up and saw his mouth was covered in blood,” she said. “I knew then that he’d bitten me, but I didn’t realize the full extent of what he’d done until later.” Mr Fraser, at that moment, appeared to be overcome with shock, and released the victim before fleeing from the apartment. The victim, after locking her apartment door, was overcome by the pain, and looked down to see that her left nipple had been completely bitten off.
“I must have fainted from the shock, because the next thing I remember was my housemate kneeling over me and calling paramedics.” The woman was lucky that her housemate arrived home shortly after the incident, and was able to call for help. “I had no idea what had happened when I walked in,” the traumatized housemate told journalists, “but I’m glad that I didn’t arrive any later.”
Surgeons who operated on the woman say that she is lucky to be alive. “She lost an awful lot of blood from her wound,” said one of the medical staff who was involved in the procedure. “If her housemate hadn’t found her so soon, it’s possible she could’ve bled to death.” After 48 hours in hospital, the woman was discharged and has returned to her hometown of Pensacola to recover at her parent’s house.
Meanwhile, Mr Fraser was located by the authorities a short time after the alleged crime, after he was found in a vehicle parked on the middle of a Tallahassee street and seen to ‘be vomiting over the driver-side window’. “We picked him up, thinking he was a drunk driver,” said one investigator, “but when we saw the blood around his mouth, and then what was in the middle of his puke, we knew we were dealing with a serious felon.” However, so far Mr Fraser has denied the allegations, claiming ‘it was all consensual’. Investigations into the alleged crime are ongoing.
